A heaping of "ready salted chips" squashed between 2 slices of buttered white bread gently decorated with thinly spread Marmite.

This classic dish is a national favourite.  It is usually given to young kiwis but also regularly enjoyed by all ages.

Marmite and chip sandwich recipe

  • 2 slices of white bread
  • butter
  • marmite
  • ready salted chips

Butter the 2 slices of bread.

Lightly spread marmite over a buttered slice of bread. Optionally marmite the other slice of bread to your taste.

Add a handful of chips onto a slice of marmite/buttered bread.

Apply remaining slice of bread on top of bread with chips.

Squash firmly.

Optionally slice bread diagonally. Never lengthwise!
